Nepal’s rivers are not the kind you admire from a distance. The Trishuli River runs along the Kathmandu-Pokhara highway and throws Grade III and IV rapids through a narrow gorge that keeps you working from the first bend to the last. It is the most popular rafting route in the country, and the access is easy enough that you can combine it with a Pokhara trip without rearranging your whole itinerary. The Bhotekoshi River is a different story entirely. Near the Tibetan border, the gorge tightens, the gradient steepens, and the Grade IV and V rapids come at you with very little recovery time between them. Veteran rafters book the Bhotekoshi specifically because it demands real attention and rewards it with one of the most intense river experiences in Asia. Whether you are picking up a paddle for the first time or looking for a river that genuinely challenges you, Nepal puts both options on the table within the same country.
