Overview
Kosi Tappu Wildlife Tour is a unique birdwatching and wildlife experience in eastern Nepal. The tour takes you to Kosi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, a protected wetland area located along the Sapta Koshi River. This reserve is internationally recognized as a Ramsar Site and is famous for its exceptional bird diversity and peaceful riverine landscapes.
Established primarily to protect the endangered wild water buffalo (Arna), Kosi Tappu is home to over 500 species of birds, including migratory waterfowl, storks, herons, and rare species. The reserve also shelters animals such as deer, wild boar, blue bull (nilgai), and Gangetic dolphins in the river system.
Unlike dense jungle safaris, Kosi Tappu offers open grasslands, river channels, and wetlands, making wildlife viewing easier and ideal for bird lovers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts seeking a quieter alternative to mainstream safari destinations.
